Top Tips to Maximize Your Industry Conference Experience

Attending the ILTCi conference is a fantastic opportunity to network, be inspired, and learn new skills that can help you build your long-term care business. Yet attending a conference takes you away from your business. That’s why, before you even step foot in the event center, it’s important to plan ahead. Here are a few tips and strategies that can help you make the most out of your experience.

Do Your Research

Before attending the conference, explore the conference schedule and identify sessions and speakers that are of particular interest to you. Doing this will help you make the most of your time at the conference by prioritizing which sessions to attend.

Take the time to research speakers and other attendees beforehand. This will help you establish connections with them on social media before arriving at the conference and provide an opportunity for further networking during your time there. Reach out to people with whom you might want to schedule some one-on-one time. At BuddyIns, we find these connections to be one of the most rewarding parts of attending conferences. These relationships can be incredibly beneficial in the long run.

Bring Out Your Inner Extrovert

Attending the ILTCi conference is an excellent opportunity to connect with other professionals in the industry while learning from leading experts. Don’t be shy about introducing yourself and exchanging contact information with other attendees. This can be a great way to build your professional network, find potential referral partners, and gain valuable insight that can strengthen your expertise. Additionally, don’t forget to engage with the speakers presenting at the conference. Asking questions during their presentations and/or attending meet-and-greet sessions after the event can provide valuable opportunities in advancing your own professional goals.

Follow Up

After the conference is over and you’re back in your office, it’s important to follow up with the people you met. This should be done sooner rather than later, while memories of the event are still fresh in everyone’s mind. Reach out with hand-written thank-you notes (yes, stamped and mailed – horrors!) to speakers and connect with attendees through social media such as LinkedIn. This can help ensure that your relationships with them start off on a strong note. Additionally, take the time to review your notes and key insights as well as any action steps gained from your experience.

Attending the ILTCi conference can be an incredibly valuable experience if you want to expand your professional network, build relationships, and gain new insights. Planning ahead, being proactive about networking, and following up after the event will ensure that there are plenty of strategies you can use to maximize your event experience.

With these tips in mind, we hope to see you at ILTCI or another conference. Don’t forget to stop by our booth if you want to chat with the BuddyIns team about any questions or ideas you may have. We look forward to seeing you there!
